Farcry 3: Blood Dragon

13 May

Every once in a while you play a game that you just love, an not just because the gameplay is great or the enemies are well thought out or not even because the story is amazing. It’s because all of these things are cemented together with a little thing called character!

Blood Dragon is a rare game in today’s world in that it is a game developed by a AAA developer that is pure fun and darn right crazy.  And why not? If you have a game such as Farcry that has great gameplay and environments then why not just add a neon layer on it, add some laser firing dragons (…Yup) and have some fun with it.

Upon stating you are immediately hit with the retro feel of the game, set in 2007 the game is the product of a 80s version of the future so get ready for an arcade style experience that feels genuinely retro and captures the cliché and over the top nature of many old school action games. People who have played Farcry 3 will find the gameplay the same, the controls and playing style reflect  the fuller titles unique brilliance and flow of play.

I had a similar experience with the ‘Mr Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage’ DLC for borderlands. There so may moments in both when I found myself grinning like an idiot trying to figure out how I could possibly share this experience with as many people as possible. And that’s the issue… there is soo much amazing stuff it is impossible to share without physically making someone sit down to play the game.

So please play this game, even if you haven’t played the original Farcry 3. I’m off now to make everyone I can see plays this game and I won’t rest until the world knows how good this game is.
